TRANSNET Freight Rail = 4x Class 35 Diesels with a long Train of Wagons. Presumably this was a train from KLAWER with a load of agricultural gypsum.

2012-07-25 Diesel consist leaving for Overberg?

 09:57 - A consist of dirty diesels, 35-053, 35-018, 35-482 & 35-465, on the way to fetch some freight in the Overberg.

2012-04-16 Grain empties train off to the Overberg

 10:12 - Another train heads for the Overberg.

 No's 35-465, 35-053, 35-431 and 35-471 are in command of this train.

 Most of the train consists of various design grain empties.

2009-07-10: Coal Freight to Saldanha departing Bellville yard

10:00 4 Diesels no's 34-415, 35-068, 35-442 and 35-465 show up with a heavy load of Anthracite bound for the smelters at Saldanha.






The wagons are of the CCR type clearly marked with an arrow on the side.


The CCR "arrow" wagons have a capacity of 67 cubic metres, and each one can carry 58,000 kg coal. The Steel smelter at Saldanha requires 675,000 tons of anthracite per annum - this boils down to some 11637 wagons of coal of this type - or an average of 32 wagons per day all year round! The locomotives are slowly moving up the incline, trying to keep the train in momentum as the driver anticipates the green signal.


The signal is green, and the diesels smoke as power is applied.






Each coal wagon has one "arrow" on the side ...

2011-07-14: Freight heading for Overberg

9:44 AM; Coming from Bellville Yard, the train waited awhile in Bellville station before receiving the green light to enter the track to the Strand, from which it will branch off to Sir Lowry's Pass to continue on to the Overberg region.






The power comes from 35-431,35-443,35-446 and 35-465.




This was a train of empties - these are all wagons designed for transporting grain.




These are also grain transporters with 4 hatches on the roof for loading grain.
